Divination in der kirchlichen Disziplin des spätantiken Westens. Überlegungen vor dem Hintergrund des Identitätsdiskurses
JbAC 61 (2018) Seiten: 262-275
Divination and divinatory practices are the subjects not only of Christian late antique writers, but also of numerous councils. Bishops deal with divination by trying to prohibit it. This essay gives an overview of the ecclesiastical discipline on divination in the West of the Roman Empire and explores the connection with the identity discourse, which, in recent times, has become more and more important in classical studies.
